For the People By the People

First and foremost I am a people person, a storyteller. My artistic goal with For the People By the People is to
apply this personality trait to my painting.

We all have a story, and my goal as an artist is to paint these stories. Starting with simple conversations with
people I meet, I plan to ask four questions. What is your name? Where do you live? If you were a painter,
what would you paint? And lastly, why?

Working from the answers to these questions, I then paint images accordingly. At this point I am reduced to
a conduit to bring the peoples’ work to completion. Though the most obvious end result of this project is the
painting, I consider the total artwork to be a combination of the interaction, the painting itself, and the final
result posted online prompting additional interaction.

As the Renaissance masters created works from the dictates of popes and kings, I create works according
to the dictates of the common man…for the people, by the people.
